Be careful to whom you listen. It is not caused by chocolate candy or tomato's or anything you eat. Washing our face a hundred times a day just dries out your skin. It is caused by heredity. Bacteria, known as Propionibacterium acnes, is a normal inhabitant of the skin. It uses sebum as a nutrient for growth, and therefore increases in follicles during puberty. People with acne have more Propionibacterium acnes in their follicles than people without acne. The presence of bacteria attracts white blood cells to the follicle. These white blood cells produce an enzyme that damages the wall of the follicle, allowing the contents of the follicle to enter the dermis. This process causes an inflammatory response seen as papules (red bumps), pustules, and nodules. The bacteria also cause the formation of free fatty acids, which are irritants, increasing the inflammatory process in the follicle.

The washes you see really do little if anything but you can try Accutane (keeping in mind there have been problems with it-mental problems and suicide).

Antibiotics work by several mechanisms. The most important is the decrease in the number of bacteria in and around the follicle. Antibiotics also work by reducing the irritating chemicals produced by white blood cells.

Finally, antibiotics reduce the concentration of free fatty acids in the sebum, also reducing the inflammatory response. The most frequently used antibiotics for acne are: Tetracycline, Erythromycin, Minocycline, Doxycycline and Clindamycin.

The only other thing "I" would recommend is Retin-A and it is not going to do what you want it to do. However, trust me when I say these washes do and can not work!

Consumer report along with the "New England Medicial Journal" have glowing remarks about a product called "Proactiv".

What Are Some home acne remedies that work?

Go get a facial at a spa. They can do special facials to help clear acne. I had chronic acne and that was the only thing to help clear it up. They can also recommend some cleansing products...

Nothing else worked for me, but that. I was on acutane, retinol, birth control pills, and many creams

Or to get rid of acne.... it's b/c I want to help my brother w/ his acne and he tried proactiv, n it made his even worse!!! (at least to me b/c he had bad acne, but now it's even worse.....) well neway, I'm looking for some home remedies for acne... thanx alot!!!!!

Well ask the dermatoligist about brevoxyl wash that stuff is amazin also there is a way to get rid of a zit

DO THIS BEFORE BED


-3 cotton balls
-salt
-cup w/water


-fill up cup with lukewarm water and pour salt in it ( more than you think it needs)

-take cotton ball and hold it under for 60 seconds then squeeze it out so its damp but not drenched


-Hold it firmily on zit for 3 minutes ... by now you can see the top is dissolved but the zit is not gone yet(repeat thisstep until top is dissolved)


- then take two clean cotton balls and put them on oppisite side of the zit and move them togeather repeat until the bump where the zit had been is flattened if you dont do this it will come back in an hour or so. make sure your nail dont pinch your pimple.


- Lastly put some honey on the once zit and go to bed... also you can use alchol to clean out after flattened.

How to Cure Acne with Natural Treatments

Cook oatmeal and apply on face for fifteen minutes, then wash.

Home remedy for acne: Apply equal amount of lemon juice and rose water with a cotton ball, leave for half an hour and wash. Repeat for 15-20 days.

Rub the acne with garlic cloves several times a day.

Natural remedy for acne with avocado: Wash face with avocado paste mixed with water.

Bedouin meds:
Eat a medium grated radish with every meal.
Drink 2 cups of rosemary tea.
Drink 3 glasses of water with squeezed lemon and honey.

Clean your skin: soak a cotton ball in either lemon juice or apple cider vinegar and apply on face.

Mix 2-3 tea bags to some basil and cook in boiling water for 10-20 minutes. Then apply on the acne with a cotton ball.
Saturate lettuce leaves in water, use water to rinse face and acne.

Boil water in a pan, add some apple cider vinegar. Cool, put a towel on your head and bend over the pan.
Clean your face every morning with cotton ball soaked with vinegar; might sting; try on a small part first.

Herbal remedy: use lavender compresses to relieve inflammation.

Drink Carrot/ cucumbers juice or eat carrots or cucumbers.

Dip a cotton ball in egg whites and apply on clean face, wait a few hours and wash.

Mix and cook 2-3 tea bags with dried basil for 10-20 minutes. Then apply on face and acne with a cotton ball.
Squeeze cucumbers and apply the juice on the acne with cotton wool pads.

Take1 tablespoon of brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of white sugar wet a little and rub face.

For acne scars: Mix 1 tablespoon of sour cream ( 0% fat for oily face), 1 tablespoon of yogurt, 1 tablespoon of grind oatmeal and 3-4 drops of lemon juice. Apply on face, leave for 10 minutes and wash off.

Blend 1 peeled apple with 1 tablespoon of honey, half a cucumber and 1 tablespoon of yogurt (use a blender). Apply on face, leave for 20 minutes and wash off with warm water.

Whip the egg white and put on face acne until it drys and then wash with cool water

Apply Sandal Wood and Neem powder mixed with Rose water before bed and clean it off in the morning

Apply honey to a pimple before bed and cover with a bandaid for the night.

Steaming cleans the skin of all surface dirt, stimulates the circulation and unclogs blocked pores. If your skin is dry, steam your face once a week. It can be used every day if you have a very greasy skin. Electrical devices are available to produce steam and this process is known as Sauna Facial.

Steaming can be taken by leaning over a large bowl of boiling water, by covering your head with a towel and making a tent around the bowl pores, loosen blackheads and bring spots to a head. To make steaming more beneficial, add a tablespoon of herbs to the water. Elderflower and chamomile are the old favorites for this. Steam your face for about ten to twenty minutes. By steaming blackheads come out of the pores and it becomes easy to extract them.

I love home remedies and have found many that work but I havent foun any for acne does anybody know any?!?

The best remedies, that I can recommend that worked for me, was to watch my sugar intake. And during every shower I would use Head & Shoulders Dry Scape care shampoo and after the shower I would clean my pores with rubbing alcohoal. It always worked for me. Some moisturizer after the cleaning helps too.
