I understand that as long as teh appliance of make-up compliments a person in an appropriate way, it is acceptable. However, is there a certain age limit to when girls should use limit to avoid damaging as little of their skin as possible?
After all, they are still young with supple skin- wouldn't products such as dead sea facial scrubs abrase/damage it?
I agree with the first answer. Girls who don't have acne shouldn't waste their money and time on exfoliating scrubs, moisturizers, etc...You're right, exfoliating scrubs aren't necessary for young girls.
Kids (boys and girls) should wash their faces daily, with plain water. To wash away sweat, dirt, etc...
But once a girl gets acne (usually around 11-14), she should use a gentle facial cleanser at morning and night. I like Cetaphil cleanser, personally.
I always hear of girls using "apricot facial scrubs" or "honey facials" and stuff like that. Why do you need facials and facial creams, what do they do for you? Isn't it alright NOT to use them?
It really just depends on your skin. Some people are born with amazing genetics and therefore have amazing skin. These are the people who could fall asleep with pounds upon pounds of makeup on their face and wake up eight hours later and not have any blemishes.
Other people have band skin genes, and therefore have to do more work to keep their face looking healthy and vibrant.
Facial cremes are supposed to open up your pores, but many clog them if you're not careful. Then you get the reverse effect: instead of clear, beautiful skin, you get bumpy, irritated skin.
Harsh soaps can irritate your skin too, hence the special facial cremes and soaps.
Scrubs remove the dead skin cells and exfoliate your skin, which helps makeup go on smoother and makes your skin look and feel healthier. However, skin is very dry and prone to irritation after exfoliation, which is another reason for all the skin cremes.
I am a teenage girl and I have decided to start eating healthier and exercising and taking better care of myself so...I would like to know what are some good facial scrubs I could use to keep my skin soft. :]
Thanks!
haha arsenic...that's pretty odd
yeah i want the neutrogena too but it was like $15 and i was like uhhh no. maybe i'll get it for Christmas though... (it's not early, huhuhuhu)
well a really good one is the st. ives apricot scrub, it comes in a little jar or you can get the little tubes of it... like they have normal, and sensitive skin, and they have one with salicylic acid in.
and i have this stuff from avon that is anti-bacterial scrub and it feels really good after you wash your face..., like it's a cooling sensation. it was $3 or $4
I also have the little pads or towels with the soap built in, usually they have a rough side for scrubbing and then a gentle side.
even though i use my acne stuff every day i still get acne which sucks. crippity crap.
oh and. i read in a magazine that if you use a washcloth that counts as exfoliation as well.. umm and my science teacher in 7th grade, he told us all to always rub our faces in circles kinda going up and out so our skin won't sag. Please don't ask me why a 7th grade male science teacher was giving us beauty tips.
I have many blackheads and i remove them with a facial scrub then apply my day cream or nigh cream, but they seem toi appear again, and how can i close my pores after removing blackheads?
you could use LUMINOUS LOTION by MARC SEBASTIEN, it works well for that matter. It's a toner/skincare fluid.
It is formulated with organic distillates and a key active complex: vegetable-derived inulin & malic acid (from apple). The compound is twice as effective as pure salicylic acid/glycolic acid. It also contains a high amount of natural nutrional factors.
All together, they cleanse and revitalize your skin, which helps prevent more blackheads/pimples in the future. The fluid also protects your skin.
A piece of advice... Check that your day/night cream do not contain any heavy compounds such as mineral oil or large amounts of vegetable butter (small amounts are actually good). They tend to clog the pores a little too much for skin types like yours.
You want creams that are richer in humectant (typically glycerin, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, etc.), meaning the name should appear at least in 3rd or 4rth position in the ingredient list.
When you need an emollient cream (ei night cream), choose silicone derivatives (any word that ends in "icone", such as dimethicone, cyclomethicone, etc.) over mineral oil bases (paraffinum liquidum, petroleum, etc.).
Silicone based ingredients are completely neutral to the skin, so they won't cause breakouts or any unwanted reaction.
Your choice of moisturizer is very important after using a facial scrub. Because you just stripped your skin, so it is more sensitive to bacterias and other irritating factors that cause the formation of blackheads, or other problems.
I work at a dermatology clinic and I have to say we see your kind of profile pretty often.
I suggest you browse MARC SEBASTIEN... For every product they feature, they have a "SkinDeep" article that teaches you about how the skin functions. You may want to read the one associated to LATHER EXTRACT.
We work with them a lot, because their formulas are good and authentic and most of all, they observe the upmost clarity with their customers. They want them to understand what they are buying.
I don't think they sell to the public yet (in the US, they are popular in France), but I know it is planned for this fall. And best of all - they are coming up with a skincare blog that will extend customer education!
I personally use their products as well. But regardless, their site has a lot of great information. Something worth doing with them is simply sign up for their newsletter. It doesn't come very often yet (probably will be more frequent once the blog is started) but it's always packed with useful tip.
Good Luck!
I know it seems like a dumb question, but I really would like to know. Some of these skin-care products contain plenty of sugar (apricot scrubs, etc) or fat (lotions with oil). These sugars and fats penetrate the skin and enter our systems.
Do they count as calories ingested? Or is it just the calories you EAT that count towards weight loss/gain?
indeed, it is a very interesting question
well...homosepians (human beings) do not have the ability to absorb a lot of things though their skin like other creatures (e.g. unicellular organisms). So it is safe for you to use any of these products on your skin.
this is mainly because of the surface area to volume ratio factor. Humans need a specialised system for absorbing food, which is the digestive system. so unuless you eat the stuff, it is not counted as calories!!! and would not cause weight gain.
However, some products that contain cortisone or steroids might cause weight gain, not because of the energy content, but becuase of the way steroids work in the body!!
